Get a Move On!

Today we would like to discuss different ways you can move your body! Unfortunately, this is something most people have forgotten how to do. Our goal today is to put all of the gym routines aside and focus primarily on simple movements that can put your body in a better place. Although we strongly advocate weight training and core exercise training, we encourage people to just get outside within the elements and move around…simple as that!

So what exactly are we talking about here? Well, for starters, WALKING more often is a good start. This means that if you live close enough to the store to get your groceries…walk and get them! Park further from the destination you’re seeking, take a stroll around the block after a meal, take your dog for 2 walks a day instead of one…you know, easy stuff like that.

The World is Your Gym

Why must we only ‘workout’ at a gym? Why not view our earthly landscape as ‘The Ultimate Workout Facility?’ In other words, look for obstacles when you’re ‘out and about.’ Use the stairs, skip the elevators and move those legs. If you work long days in an office, every hour try to stand up and do a few jumping jacks. (that is if people aren’t looking…;)). The key here is to not let your body remain stagnant for too long. The more you move, the better shape you will be in: it’s scientifically proven! More muscle stimulation throughout the day is great for physical and mental well being!

Couch Potato or Savage Tube Watcher?

If you’re a big TV watcher: be an active one! During your commercial breaks, bang out 5 or 10 pushups, or maybe a few sets of sit-ups or planks. You will be pleasantly surprised at how these simple exercises can actually work if done more often. Also, don’t look at these movements as ‘burning calories,’ look at it more as ‘keeping your muscles, joints, tendons, bones, and organs alive and well.’

Think about it…

If you think about it, the human body has evolved from an extremely active prehistoric past. We are built to move, not sit and be fat. Our cave-dwelling ancestors were rarely lazy: too much to do in order to survive! If it helps, start thinking like a cave man (or woman). By doing so, your mind can start programming itself for a more active lifestyle.

Obviously, we’re all about staying in shape and there are many ways to do this. Gym routines ARE good if they’re done correctly…don’t forget that. What we’re driving at here is for people to NOT forget how important basic movement is, no matter to what degree…something is ALWAYS better than nothing.

So, starting today, your new goal is to MOVE MOVE MOVE! Even if people think you’re crazy for doing so. Don’t worry so much about what others think, worry more about how YOU feel. Jump around, have fun and feel great: it’s what we’re all about!

Until next time…be well and stay on that grind people! We love you all.
